  • New report: cost of a child in Scotland

    This report is the latest in a series – commissioned by Child Poverty Action Group in Scotland from the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University. It builds on calculations which find that across the UK it cost at least £166,000 to bring up a child at a socially acceptable standard of living in 2023.

  • UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls visits the UK

    The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has issued an urgent request to Israel for additional information ahead of its forthcoming review of the country’s children’s rights record. The request for additional information is particularly in light of events since October 7, 2023. Israel is urged to provide updated information on various aspects concerning children's rights by June 15, 2024.

  • Children bring a case against 33 European states on climate and their rights

    The case, lodged in 2020, was brought by six Portuguese children against 33 European states. The applicants demand that states uphold their legal duty to reduce fossil fuel-related emissions and prevent climate harms.
