The Scottish Government released their independent review of the Scottish Planning system this week. In it, recommendation 48 is to introduce a statutory duty to consult children and young people in the preparation of Local Development Plans and explicitly mentions article 12.

On 12th March 2016, the Scottish Youth Parliament Launched Lead the Way at their 59th National Sitting in Galashiels. The Manifesto has received 72,744 consultation responses from young people all over Scotland, and provides the Scottish Youth Parliament with an incredible mandate to represent the views of young people.

This is particular to Parts 4 and Part 5 of the Act. The consultation paper sets out two options for consideration for the management of complaints relating to Parts 4 and/or 5 of the Act.

Findings from a research project seeking the views of minority ethnic children and young people have been published in a Children's Rights Report, which contains a number of recommendations including for more work to be done to raise awareness and understanding of the UNCRC and the Children's Commissioner.
