YouthLink’s Kevin Kane explains why strengthening the statutory basis of youth work is critical to ensure effective implementation of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) (Bill), as youth work can help children and young people to understand, promote and defend their rights.
The blog highlights the huge benefits of youth workers to children and young people, as they act as human rights defenders for the tens of thousands of young people they support. It is because of this, Kevin Kane calls for the Community Learning and Development (CLD) Regulations (2013 to be strengthened to prevent cuts to youth work provisions and to ensure a rights based approach to service delivery continues.
