We want to make fairer childhoods possible in Scotland by challenging poverty, empowering communities and supporting families so that every child in Scotland has an equal chance to flourish. We work in partnership to contribute to reducing poverty and ensuring all children have a fair start by narrowing the 'early learning gap' between children growing up in poverty and their peers. We support children, young people and parents to speak out on issues affecting them and to be part of developing policy and practice that best supports them. We improve children's outcomes by supporting parents to engage in their children's early learning and by supporting schools and nurseries to develop their parental engagement practice. We reduce the impact of material deprivation on families through early years grants and we influence policy to ensure every family has an adequate income for a dignified standard of living.
