The Information Commissioner's Office (Scotland) has submitted written evidence to the Education and Culture Committee, regarding the information sharing provisions in the Children and Young People Bill.
The document seeks to assist the Committee in the compilation of its Stage 1 report, which will conclude Stage 1 oral evidence of the Bill.
The written evidence submitted by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) considers the legislative competency of the information sharing aspects of the Children and Young People Bill, Section 27 of the Bill, access to information by parents and information sharing.
Within the document, ICO suggest that a Child Rights Impact Assessment, as advocated by Together (along with many others including SCCYP and the SHRC) is appropriate to consider the legislative competency of the provisions in the Bill (namely section 26 and 27). ICO also urges that the content of section 27 should be reconsidered.
