A row of children standing underneath a rainbow and a cloud with the Together logo inside.

For 25 years, Together has been helping organisations and individuals from a range of backgrounds and roles to improve their awareness and understanding of children’s human rights in practice. This has included work on the Skills and Knowledge project, which explores what professionals need to know and apply to be able to implement children’s human rights.

We all need to act as advocates for children’s rights so children in Scotland can grow up in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding.  Together offers decades of experience, a deep knowledge of the issues affecting children’s rights in Scotland and a detailed understanding of a children’s human rights approach.

The UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 will impact public bodies, private sector organisations and third sector organisations all over Scotland, as they look to further their work on children's rights. Together can support organisations to identify situations in which they are already implementing children’s rights in practice, alongside how they can evolve their work using a children’s human rights approach

We offer a flexible and adaptable approach. You can book onto one of our planned training sessions or talk to us about developing bespoke training support for your organisation.

Members of the Together team can also speak at your events, subject to availability. Contact info@togetherscotland.org.uk for information about our process and fees.

  • Introductory UNCRC and children’s human rights approach training

Join Together online to gain an introductory overview of how to implement the five principles of a children’s human rights approach in your work and organisation. The UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 brought important children’s rights protections into law in Scotland, and taking a children’s human rights approach can help ensure that children’s rights are implemented in practice.

The workshop aims to equip attendees with:

    • An introduction to the UNCRC
    • An understanding of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024
    • How they can consider children’s rights in their work
    • Introductory knowledge of the five principles of a children’s human rights approach
    • Ideas for how to implement the five principles in their working practice
    • Resources for further study

You do not need any prior children’s rights knowledge to attend this course. All attendees will receive a participant pack to get familiar with materials in advance of the session.

This training session is followed by a drop-in session six months after your training to allow you to ask any questions about the issues you are facing as you implement your training knowledge.

"I really liked how practical and thought-provoking the session was. It gave me time to reflect on how a rights-based approach can be meaningfully embedded, not just talked about. I also appreciated the space for discussion, as it was great hearing different perspectives and ideas that I can take back into my own work."

At Together we can work with you to develop and deliver bespoke sessions that meet the specific needs of your organisation. This can be by delivering one of our training sessions carefully designed for your audience needs, or by designing new training on the children’s rights topic you need to explore.

"The session provided valuable insight into how we can meaningfully integrate children’s rights into our culture, policies, and day-to-day decision-making. It was particularly helpful in illustrating how the principles of the UNCRC can move beyond legislation and shape how we work with and for children and young people.

We also greatly appreciated the opportunity to reflect on the positive work already underway, while considering how we can continue to strengthen our approach as part of ongoing transformation and wider education reform.

Thank you again for your time, knowledge, and commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. We look forward to building on this learning as we continue this important work."
