Children in Scotland has produced a members briefing concerning the Named Person section (Part 4) of the proposed Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill.
The briefing outlines key points on the Named Person provisions in the Bill including strong support for Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC). The briefing supports the Named Person provisions in the Bill as a key element of GIRFEC, ensuring that there is a point of contact for every child and their parents/carers to enable wellbeing concerns to be considered in the round, and appropriate early support and early intervention to be delivered if required.
The briefing urges all MSPs to continue to support GIRFEC and in particular, the principle of the Named Person at Stage 3 of the Children and Young People Bill. Stage 3 will be taking place on the afternoon of Wednesday 19th February and Together has produced two briefings in advance of the debate.
