This booklet provides essential reading for students, play practitioners, policy makers and advocates for play, it will help explore the right to play, de-mystify jargon, and give a richer understanding of article 31.

All children have a right to play. This universal right is enshrined in article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The focus of this booklet is on understanding play as a right of children rather than children's activities.
