Salvesen Mindroom Centre has developed a guide for children and young people with learning difficulties, parents and teachers on how to build “effective relationships that support learning and wellbeing”. The guide is based on results from a focus group. It provides practical advice on how to best communicate with each other.

The guide also identifies the five most important things needed to foster “a community of support for children and young people’s education and wellbeing”. These are:

  • Empathy and understanding
  • Effective communication
  • Education and training
  • Practical information and support
  • Honesty and transparency
