The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) celebrates its 75th anniversary in December 2023. This significant milestone provides an important opportunity for world leaders to commit to improving the realisation of human rights in their countries and share ideas for a new vision for the future of human rights.
Children voices, experiences and solutions are central to this new vision for human rights. They will help shape the summit of the future in September 2024 as well as contribute to strategic planning at the UN Human Rights Office.
Children from all over the world have engaged with the Human Rights 75 initiative. They shared their opinions on Human Rights in a global children’s survey, facilitated by the United Nations Human Rights Office, Child rights connect and partner organisations. The majority (70%) of children who contributed to this survey said they were already familiar with human rights. Children shared how their lives are shaped by the extent to which their human rights are realised.
