My Rights My Say Young Advisors’ views on inclusive and engaging learning

The Young Advisors, a group of young people aged 12 to 21 with additional support needs, have shared their views on how education can become more inclusive and engaging.

The group helps shape the My Rights, My Say service and works to ensure children and young people are heard in decisions about their education. Their latest work focuses on inclusive learning and the right to an education that supports every child to develop their personality, talents and abilities to their fullest potential, as set out in Articles 28 and 29 of the UNCRC.

Young Advisors highlighted that engaging learning can improve participation, independence and confidence. They have shared ideas for how adults can support learning that reflects young people’s interests and ambitions, respects their rights and celebrates their achievements.

The new resource is aimed at education leaders, teachers and policymakers, supporting them to include young people’s views when developing and delivering the curriculum. The Young Advisors will continue exploring inclusive and engaging learning and develop further resources on a range of topics throughout the year.
