Charity announces £100k funding boost for Scotland's minority ethnic communities

Funding that will see an unprecedented £100k investment in grassroots projects for Scotland's minority ethnic communities was announced on 29th March 2013 by the Scottish charity 'roshni'.

From now until July 31st 2013, the charity is giving people the chance to apply for up to £10,000 to fund projects that will benefit their local minority ethnic communities, through its Scottish Ethnic Communities £100k fund (SEC).

With language often a barrier to accessing mainstream funding, roshni is ideally placed to ensure anyone can apply. It has devised a simple application process that can be submitted in multiple languages, online, by post or by hand. roshni is also on hand to help community members develop their ideas and put them down on paper through its multi-lingual community outreach team.

Ali Khan, roshni's Executive Chair, believes this aspect is crucial as it will ensure that those hard to reach communities have equal access to funding and support: "Our SEC £100k fund marks an incredible investment in projects and services that will directly benefit Scotland's minority ethnic communities and has a huge potential to create permanent and positive social change. We want to ensure that this opportunity is open to and reaches as large and diverse a group as possible."

roshni will reveal its SEC fund winners on October 24th during its 'SECuring Brighter Futures' event in Glasgow, which will be attended by key community figures.
