xNCB: Child Poverty figures have not changed in 50 years

The National Children's Bureau has released a new report showing that far from improving over time, the situation of inequality and disadvantage of children and families in the UK today appears to be no better than it was nearly five decades ago.
The report entitled Greater Expectations examined 12 key indicators to determine whether children in the UK are still experiencing inequality and disadvantage.
In the last 50 years, the National Children's Bureau has conducted several studies about change for children and families. Greater Expectations indicates that far from improving over time, the situation today appears to be no better than it was nearly five decades ago.

Despite official poverty statistics published on 13th June 2013 showing that the number of children living in relative poverty has fallen in Scotland between 2009-10 and 2011-12, Scotland's Deputy First Minister warned that there is no room for complacency.
