On 10th December 2018, the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) will mark its 70th anniversary. The UN Human Rights Office is leading a year-long celebration with the aim of promoting the UDHR and reflecting on what has been achieved.
The anniversary celebrations will build on the UN Human Rights Stand UP campaign, which calls on people to take action for greater freedoms, stronger respect and more compassion for the rights of others. The Human Rights Office hopes to reach a variety of people with its campaign including those working in civil society, citizens of Member States, the private sector, the media, and UN institutions around the world.
The Human Rights Office have provided suggestions of how to get involved in the year-long celebrations including:
- Share the official campaign tweets/posts with the hashtag #standup4humanrights
- Take the human rights pledge on the Stand Up 4 Human Rights website and encourage others to do the same.
- Participate in events that are taking place to mark the 70th anniversary - organise your own!
- Read more about how to get involved on the UDHR 70 official website here.
