SNP Leadership Candidate Letter

Date: 1st March 2023
Category: Incorporation

There is a clock and three exclamation marks to stress the importance of time for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. There is a letter next to it. There is text to the right-hand side ‘The time is now’, ‘UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill’ and ‘Scotland becoming a world leader in protecting children and young people’s rights.’

The time is now for #MakingRightsReal

Members of Children's Parliament and Scottish Youth Parliament have written to SNP Leadership candidates calling for action as we approach the 2nd year anniversary of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill on the Thursday the 16th March 2023.

They are calling on candidates to pledge their commitment to UNCRC incorporation, to bring the Bill back before the Scottish Parliament as soon as practicable and to ensure it is given the priority it deserves. They share their frustration at the delay in addressing the UK Supreme Court judgment and the lack of information for children and young people.

The letter received over 74 organisations support.
