Following an open recruitment process which sought candidates with a proven track record of promoting human rights, experience of successfully leading an organisation and other reputable skills. Angela O’Hagan has been appointed as the new Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission.
Angela O’Hagan is currently Professor of Equality and Public Policy at Glasgow Caledonian University where she created the current MSc in Human Rights and previously led the MSc in Citizenship and Human Rights. She is the Depute Director of the WISE Centre for Economic Justice. The appointment is to be endorsed by the Scottish Parliament on 16 May 2024.
Professor O’Hagan will take up post in August 2024.
