NatureScot has been asked to investigate the proposal for a new national park. It has begun the first phase of community engagement known as the ‘conversation phase’ raising awareness, gathering opinions, and is keen to partnering with those already working with protected groups in or near the proposed area.

A formal consultation was launched early this month providing everyone an opportunity to contribute feedback. The consultation is accessible online through the NatureScot website, with materials available in print, audio, Gaelic, and summary versions. A leaflet outlining the proposal will be sent to 52,000 local homes and businesses in the coming weeks. NatureScot welcomes support participation from young people, minority ethnic groups, disabled people and other people with protected characteristics.

NatureScot is particularly encouraging participation from young people, minority groups, and disabled individuals. Community members are invited to reach out if they wish to collaborate on events or other outreach efforts.
