The Human Rights Consortium Scotland (HRCS) has submitted a detailed joint report to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) as part of the UK’s review on implementing these rights.
The joint report which was co-designed and endorsed by over 70 Scottish civil society organisations including Together, provides evidence on Scotland’s successes, challenges, and priorities in areas affecting economic, social, and cultural rights. Some of the key issues mentioned were poverty and inequality, access to healthcare, environmental justice, and the need to strengthen human rights laws in Scotland.
HRCS will present these concerns at the CESCR’s 77th session in Geneva in February 2025. We look forward to the new ICESCR Concluding Observations in the first quarter of 2025.
