Campaign for Savings Accounts System for Looked After Children

Date: 7th February 2011
Category: Family Environment and Alternative Care

On January 1st 2011 child trust funds were abolished for all children. For looked after children, this system had provided a savings account and minimum contribution year-on-year to be accessed when becoming an adult and leaving the care system. Action for Children is campaigning for a savings account system to be reinstated.

The organisation wants to hear from children and young people in care at the moment, as well as care leavers, about the difference a savings account (which has money put into it) can make as they approach adulthood and leave care.

If you are a young person in care, a care leaver, or work with people who are, please complete this short survey. The results of this survey will help Action for Children to show the Chancellor, George Osborne, just how important our campaign is, so your thoughts really will make a difference.

Action for Children is aiming to get in as many responses as possible by the end of this week, but might be able to still process any responses received after that point.
