Children's Rights will feature prominently on the agenda at the Human Rights Council's 22nd Session (25 February to 22 March 2013), most notably during the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child - this year focusing on the right to health - scheduled to take place on 7 March 2013.
The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and make recommendations on them.
It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year, and meets at the UN Office in Geneva.
A draft programme of the 22nd Session of the Human Rights Council, due to take place from 25 February to 22 March 2013, including the programme of work, a list of NGO statements, discussions scheduled to take place, and how NGOs can participate, is available.
