Not-for-profit organisations across Scotland can apply for funding from the newly launched Scotch Whisky Action Fund for projects which tackle alcohol-related harms across the theme of young people, families and communities.

The Scotch Whisky Association launched the fund earlier this month in an effort to reduce the impact of alcohol-related harm in Scotland's communities. The fund, which is being administered by Foundation Scotland, is expected to deliver £500,000 over the next five years.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available for new initiatives and to test out innovative approaches designed to reduce alcohol-related harm. Awards could also be used to fund existing smaller scale projects that are seeking to expand or develop their services. Grants of between £10,000 and £25,000 are available for projects that are seeking to consolidate and build on emerging, successful practice in relation to the reduction of alcohol-related harm.

There will be two funding rounds in 2014. The deadline for the first round of applications is 31st March 2014 with decisions expected in June 2014. Applications for the second round are due by 30th September 2014 with decisions expected in December 2014.
