Education and Skills Committee hold final evidence session on Information Sharing Bill

Scottish Parliament's Education and Skills Committee have held their final evidence session on the Children and Young People (Information Sharing) (Scotland) Bill, with Deputy First Minister John Swinney giving evidence.

Before the session, John Swinney wrote to the Committee outlining the steps the Scottish Government will take if the Bill passes. This included developing a set of support materials, including a Code of Practice, for service providers so that they are fully aware of the information sharing provision and what is required of the Named Person.

The Committee will now debate whether the Children and Young People (Information Sharing) (Scotland) Bill will pass to its second stage.

This session follows many weeks of evidence given to the Committee by legal professionals, practitioners and third sector organisations. This has included several Together members, such as Clan Childlaw, Aberlour, and Barnados, who have given evidence in recent weeks.
