Following the recommendation from Scottish Parliament's Equal Opportunities Committee to develop a national strategy for tackling social isolation and loneliness, Scottish Government have launched a consultation on the issue as part of the strategy-development process.

In the last Parliamentary term, the Equal Opportunities Committee reported that social isolation and loneliness was a problem in Scotland. Feelings of loneliness have far-ranging consequences for those affected and this can include serious physical and mental health implications.

Scottish Government are asking people living in Scotland to respond to the consultation so that they can gather a wide range of opinions and views on the issue.
