The NGO Network on UN Treaty Bodies (TB-Net) has delivered a statement to the Human Rights Council to highlight the importance of follow-up procedures of Treaty Bodies.

The statement emphasises how crucial follow-up procedures are for the effective implementation of treaty body recommendations as they allow treaty bodies to maintain a dialogue with States during the period between the State review and the periodic report and to support them with the fulfilment of their obligations.

The statement also highlights the importance on promoting quality, independence and diversity in treaty body membership.

TB-Net are a network of seven organisations with the aim of increasing the effectiveness of treaty bodies to ensure accountability under the international human rights treaties.
