Videos and other resources are now available from Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) Young People's Rights Review which was held in April this year in order to ensure young people's voices are at the heart of the Scottish Government's Children and Young People Right's Action Plan.

The event, which was attended by Members of Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) as well as 40 officials from the Scottish Government and 8 Scottish Government Ministers, involved workshops for MSYPs lead by experts from rights-based organisations. In the afternoon, MSYPs delivered speeches to decision makers on key issues that they had identified through consultation with children and young people. This included speeches on mental health, the attainment gap and the minimum living wage.

Videos and transcripts of all speeches made by MSYPs on the day are now available as well as a summary of MSYPs recommendations which were made to the Scottish Government.

The aim of the event was to ensure the voices of children and young people inform the Children and Young People's Rights Action Plan, which will be published by Scottish Government later this year. This Action Plan will fulfil part of the Minister for Childcare and Early Years' duties under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act which requires her to report on what Scottish Government has done in the past three years to further children's rights and what they will do over the coming three years to continue that progress.
