Scottish Government has published an Action Plan and Report for Children’s Rights entitled ‘Progressing Human Rights for Children in Scotland’.

As per the reporting duties placed upon Scottish Ministers under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, the Report outlines progress in upholding children and young people’s rights under the UNCRC since 2015 while the Action Plan sets out what Ministers have planned to do to further rights from 2018 to 2021.

The Report includes quotes from members of Children’s Parliament and Scottish Youth Parliament as well as Article 12’s ‘I Witness’ publication. The Report can be found here.

The Action Plan is separated into four strands of work: ‘incorporation’, ‘impact assessment’, ‘raising awareness’ and ‘strategic approach to participation’. Scottish Government will be providing progress updates on the actions undertaken each year as well as setting up a Child Rights Advisory Group to oversee the Action Plan. Read the Action Plan here.
