Street Play is an initiative that allows communities to close local roads free-of-charge so that children can play safely outside and close to their homes.

It aims to bring communities closer together by providing local groups and residents the opportunity to take back their streets and enjoy a traffic free environment. It also supports children’s right to rest and leisure under Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Three Street Play weekends have taken place so far in 2019, with another planned for 20-22^nd September. Individuals and organisations can apply to have a residential street turned into a play street, with the deadline for applications being 1^st September 2019.
