Speaking at a conference at the United Nations in Geneva in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the UNCRC, members of the Committee on the Rights of the Child called on countries to strengthen their commitment to promote and protect children’s rights.
The Committee members also commended the 51 countries, including the UK, which made more than 200 pledges to implement the Convention, including protecting children from violence, ensuring that their views are respected, and educating the public on children’s rights.
They also called on all countries to ratify the Optional Protocols to the Convention and expressed hope for universal ratification.
