Elections of half of the members of the UN Committee have taken place. Among fourteen candidates, States have voted for nine newly elected and re-elected members.
The new membership of the Committee will now consist of nine women and nine men, who come from the following regions: three from Latin America and the Caribbean; seven from Africa; three from Asia-Pacific; two from Eastern Europe and three from Western Europe and other States.
