On the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child 2021, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Committees have issued a joint statement.

The statement calls on States to eliminate discrimination against girls in law and practice, and reiterate girls’ rights to be informed, empowered and to participate in all decision-making processes affecting them.
