The Moment aims to connect children and young people with decision-makers to discuss children and young people’s climate calls to action ahead of COP26. These participatory sessions are called ‘climate surgeries’ and elected representatives (Members of Parliament, Members of Scottish Parliament and local councilors) have already ‘saved the date’ so they can participate. You are encouraged to support children and young people to set up these climate surgeries.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to support children and young people’s voices, advocating for urgent, systemic changes needed to tackle the climate emergency. The stories shared at The Moment will be captured on an interactive map and presented at the Global Legislators’ COP26 Summit. Taking place on the 5th November, this interactive map will serve as a powerful reminder to all decision-makers of their duty to uphold children and young people’s rights and to have a say in climate decisions.

To support children and young people to take part in The Moment, Children’s Parliament’s created an online toolkit for children for children aged 7 -14. It features children’s ‘missions’ and supporting adults’ guides here. Scottish Youth Parliament created an online toolkit, developed for young people up to 25 years of age here.
