xRead our response to the Children’s Care and Justice Bill consultation

Reporting to and monitoring the UNCRC
We recently submitted our response to Scottish Government’s consultation on the potential legislative reforms to promote and advance the rights of children in the care and justice systems, and people who have been harmed.
Our response analyses the plans from a children’s rights perspective. It draws upon the articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the guidance set out in General Comment 24, the Council of Europe’s Guidelines on Child-friendly Justice and other instruments.
We are hugely grateful to have had sight of the submission by the Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice and we drew from this in preparing our own response. We are grateful also to Scottish Women’s Aid and CELCIS for their valuable input.
