Scottish Government is seeking views on draft guidance on physical intervention in schools. The consultation follows the 2018 investigation by the Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland and subsequent report by ENABLE Scotland.
The draft guidance aims to minimise the use of restraint and seclusion in schools. It includes new definitions, safeguards and expectations for recording, reporting and monitoring. Scottish Government states that the draft guidance is focused on protecting children from harm and promoting rights-based practice in Scotland’s schools.
