Together is working on an exciting project commissioned by the Scottish Government to work jointly with our amazing partners JustRight Scotland, JRS KnowHow, Children’s Parliament and the Observatory on Human Rights of Children in Wales to explore in depth the skills and knowledge required for different duty-bearers to fully implement children’s rights in Scotland.

Our role is to bring together a Professional Panel, made up of people from a variety of backgrounds, lived experiences and areas of Scotland. Panel members will play a crucial role in shaping the Framework through a truly collaborative process. This is an exciting opportunity to hear from people across the Scottish workforce, about the opportunities and challenges they see for the incorporation of the UNCRC into Scots law, and what they need to help them and their partners to fully realise children’s rights.

The Professional Panel is composed of 23 individuals from 9 local authorities, 2 NHS boards, 8 public authorities and 2 third sector organisations. We have members who work across Scotland, in both rural, island and urban communities. The panel has a real mix of people working with children directly, those who manage professionals working with children, and whose work impacts children without working with them directly.

The Professional Panel will also be working alongside a Children and Families Panel supported by Children’s Parliament, to gain from their knowledge and lived experiences. Their project officer Alyssa has written a blog about their recent in-person meeting, which you can read on their website through this link.

Together is also organising input from a wider group of stakeholders who will be kept up to date on the project and have opportunities to feed in their thoughts on the ongoing work and materials created. If you are interested in becoming part of the wider Stakeholder group you can complete the Stakeholder Form (Microsoft Form) which includes selecting options for how you would like to be involved.

Keep an eye on this page for more updates!

Our Project Officer Mary Campbell outlines how crucial the Panel’s work will be for the Scottish workforce.
