Photo shows Palais Wilson in Geneva where the UN Committee held the UK's child rights review. It is a tall, ornate building with orange and cream walls. It has lots of windows, pillars and a big security gate.

Last month, Together joined #TeamScotlandUN members Children’s Parliament, the Scottish Youth Parliament and the Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland to  influence the UK’s review by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.

The review took place on 18-19th May, with Scottish Government officials sitting across from the UN Committee and answering a series of questions on issues from healthcare to play.

In the run up to the review, Together released a series of blogposts, discussing the issues we wanted to see raised by the UN Committee. Many of these came from our shadow report submitted in December 2022. The blogs also drew upon issues that Members of the Children’s Parliament – Arden and Omima – and members of the Scottish Youth Parliament – Beau and Daisy – highlighted to the UN Committee at the February pre-session.

The UN Committee has since released its recommendations – known as Concluding Observations. Find out more about the recommendations in the links below!
