Countdown to the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act
In less than a month (16th July 2024), the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 will come into effect. The Act will incorporate the UNCRC into Scots law, helping to ensure that children and young peoples’ rights are rights legally recognised and protected.
Royal assent was granted on the 16th of January which marked the final step of making the Bill into an Act of the Scottish Parliament.
Together is eagerly anticipating this milestone. We hope you are too!
Together has been working on the “Children’s Rights Skills and Knowledge Framework for the public authority workforce in Scotland”. This is an exciting project commissioned by the Scottish Government to where we’ve worked jointly with JustRight Scotland, JRS KnowHow, Children’s Parliament and the Observatory on Human Rights of Children in Wales, supported and informed by an expert Children and Families Panel and Professional Panel. In exploring the skills and knowledge required for workers to fully implement children’s rights, the “Children’s Rights Skills and Knowledge Framework” will be a flexible resource that can support public authority workers across a wide range of sectors access the essential skills and knowledge they need to improve their children’s rights practice and is expected to be launched later in the summer.
