General measures of implementation, Recreation, play and cultural activities
The first ever International Day of Play was celebrated on the 11th June 2024. Read our latest Membership Spotlight from Play Scotland which marked the occasion.
This year’s celebration follows the United Nations General Assembly adopting a resolution to create a new International Day of Play with more than 140 countries including the United Kingdom as co-sponsors. The purpose of the day is to spotlight the importance of play in children’s lives. It also aims to create a unifying moment at global, national, and local levels to elevate the importance of play.
Children and young people across Scotland and around the world joined in the celebrations through various fun activities hosted by organisations, while others simply made extra time to play.
