xConsultation on future of foster care
Date: 19th November 2024
Category:
Family Environment and Alternative Care

Closing date: 6th February 2025
This consultation will help shape the future of foster care in Scotland, with a focus on children's experiences and the varied needs within a changing society. The proposed plan includes a flexible approach to foster care that highlights the unique strengths of foster carers, alongside the best practices already in place, and ensures ongoing support for carers.
The consultation also addresses issues foster carers feel are essential for them to continue offering nurturing and effective support. It invites input from children, young people, families, and foster carers, whose voices are central to creating a system that fulfils The Promise to support those with care experience. This consultation is open to the public, encourages contributions from foster carers (current, past, and prospective) as well as Care Experienced individuals, birth families, and professionals who support foster carers and young people.
