During the discussion, several MSPs referenced Together's Stage 1 briefing as well as our earlier consultation response and oral evidence, recognising the importance of ensuring that any changes to the law uphold children's rights under the UNCRC. We welcome the attention given to these important issues and the acknowledgement of the evidence shared by our members.

Together has consistently highlighted the need for legislation that respects children's rights to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, while ensuring they have meaningful opportunities to express their views on decisions that affect them. As the Bill now moves to Stage 2, we will continue to work closely with MSPs and partners. Our focus will be on supporting amendments that strengthen rights-based approaches in schools and ensure that the legislation delivers real change for children and young people, including giving children an independent right to opt-out from Religious Observance in line with repeated recommendations from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
