Equality Network has published a LGBTQIA+ Manifesto, created in collaboration with other LGBTQIA+ organisations to outline priorities they want the next Scottish Government to take to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people of all ages.
With the Scottish Parliament election set for 7 May 2026, LGBTQIA+ organisations are warning that the vote comes at a pivotal moment for equality in Scotland. Over the past five years, campaigners say anti‑LGBTQIA+ rhetoric has intensified, particularly targeting trans and non‑binary people, raising concerns about human rights protections.
In response, several leading organisations, including LGBT Youth Scotland, LGBT Health and Wellbeing, and LEAP Sports, have joined forces to publish a new manifesto outlining evidence‑based priorities for all political parties. The document focuses on devolved areas where the next Scottish Government can take action.
The groups describe the election as an opportunity for a “reset” and call for concrete steps to ensure LGBTQIA+ people, regardless of age, in Scotland are healthier, treated fairly, and fully included in society. The manifesto is presented as a roadmap rather than an exhaustive list, shaped by years of community engagement and research.
