Eurochild highlights the work by its Finnish member, the Central Union for Child Welfare (CUCW) to ensure children have access to clear, age-appropriate information and can meaningfully participate in monitoring their rights.

In 2023, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child issued its latest concluding observations to Finland, setting out recommendations the government is now responsible for implementing. Recognising that children have the right to be informed and heard, CUCW transformed these recommendations into language young people can easily understand.

The youth-friendly version was produced as part of the EU-funded Our CRC project, with support from Eurochild members Kinderrechtencollectief in the Netherlands and Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights). Both organisations brought valuable experience from similar initiatives in their own countries.

Looking ahead, the publication will be made available in Swedish and three Sami languages in 2026, helping to reach more children across Finland. CUCW plans to share the resource widely with educators, civil servants and politicians, while SOS Children’s Villages Finland will pilot new ways of using the recommendations to encourage meaningful discussions with children and young people.
