Together publishes draft response on UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill

The draft response draws on the views and experience of our members, children and young people to highlight positive aspects of the Bill and where it could be further strengthened. In publishing our draft response early, we hope it will support our members in preparing their own responses.

The Scottish Parliament’s Equalities and Human Rights Committee issued the call for views in early September, seeking views from children, young people, individuals and organisations on the Bill that will incorporate the UNCRC into Scots law.

Whilst the call for written views (aimed at adults, young people and organisations) will close at 5.00 pm on Friday 16 October 2020, children and organisations who help to gather children's views will have until 20^th November 2020 to submit their consultation responses. The Equalities and Human Rights Committee has created children friendly resources to facilitate engagement sessions with children to gather their views. These resources can be found here.
