xTogether launches its 2022 State of Children's Rights Report!
Date: 2nd March 2022
Category:
General measures of implementation, Awareness-raising, Child rights impact assessments, Child rights indicators, Incorporation, Training, Budgeting
The report seeks to inspire and enable everyone in Scotland to put children’s human rights at the heart of everything they do.
It has been developed as a practical guide to support public authorities, the third sector, organisations and individuals as we approach implementation of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. It demonstrates the importance of:
- Children’s participation in decision making;
- Inclusive communications;
- Situations where a child’s rights are at risk of not being fulfilled;
- Access to justice;
- Raising awareness of rights;
- Child rights budgeting; and
- Children’s rights impact assessments.
The report is the result of many months of engagement with our members and supporters - including a survey, webinar series and detailed interviews. Drawing from the wealth of information provided, we identify common challenges and steps being taken across the above themes, case studies of promising practice, resources and practical suggestions. We hope our report can serve as a roadmap for all levels of government, the Scottish Parliament and practitioners as we strive towards creating a ‘gold standard’ for children’s rights in Scotland.
We look forward to celebrating the launch alongside our members at an event this evening, with special guest Professor Ann Skelton of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
Accompanying this report is a child-friendly version and an Easy Read version.
Please note our 2022 report is only available in a digital format.
