Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility Update

The Age of Criminal Responsibility (Scotland) Bill is at Stage 2 in the Scottish Parliament. As currently drafted, the Bill raises the minimum age of criminal responsibility from 8 (the lowest in Europe) to 12. Over recent weeks there have been mounting calls for the age to be increased to 14 years, in line with Council of Europe and soon-to-be United Nations minimum standards.

Together celebrates Human Rights Day 2018, marking 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Together took part in the Scottish Parliament’s Human Rights Day Takeover , a one-day conference to mark the 70th anniversary of the United Nations adopting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Throughout the day, there was a strong focus on the rights of children and young people and the role children and young people play in defending human rights across Scotland and internationally.
