Scotland’s Climate Assembly publishes ‘Recommendations for Action’

Scotland’s Climate Assembly is made up of over 100 citizens from all walks of life tasked with examining expert evidence and agreeing recommendations for tackling the climate emergency in a fair and effective way. This report sets out 81 recommendations agreed by consensus, and calls for bold and urgent action now. As Scotland’s Climate Assembly members were aged 16+, the Assembly worked closely with Children’s Parliament to integrate their activity into the Assembly and ensure children’s voices are heard in decision-making. The children’s work was regularly fed back to Assembly members, which helped to shape the Assembly’s final recommendations.

Children and young people share their school experience before and during COVID-19

Between May and July 2021, 111 children and young people shared their experience of feeling listened to and respected, learning at school and home, and how confident they felt at completing homework during the home learning phase of lockdown. UK Government responds to calls to End the Young Parent Penalty

Following calls to end to the Young Parent Penalty in Universal Credit, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Work and Pensions MP Wendy Chamberlain, received a response from the UK Government. Within the letter, the UK Government stands by the decision to offer young single parents a lower rate of Universal Credit than those above 25.
